Aveda Tourmaline-Charged Exfoliating Cleanser. This is great product for time-poor ladies and busy mums. I adore this product. I am always looking to cut down on the number of steps in my daily routine and this is perfect as it’s like a cleanser/face wash/exfoliator all in one, perfect to use in the shower!

Aveda Tourmaline-Charged Exfoliating Cleanser daily cleanser with jojoba exfoliating beads helps increase cell turnover and remove impurities. It has a lovely creamy consistency that smells of mangos.

It leaves your skin feeling squeaky clean, refreshed and nourished. I’ll admit it is a little pricey at €31.30 but the tube I have at the moment has lasted nearly 3 months, a little goes a long way with this cleanser.

Have you tried it? What did you think? What are your hero time-saving products? Let me know in the comments.

batch cooking, freezer friendly, slowcooker

This is an ideal dish for families and leftovers freeze really well.

Slowcooker chilli con carne

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 large onion chopped

2 garlic cloves crushed

1 teaspoon cumin

1 teaspoon oregano

1 tablespoon of hot or mild chilli powder

500g lean mince beef

1 can of chopped tomatoes

1 red pepper cut into chunks

5 sun-dried tomatoes finely sliced

1 can red kidney beans drained and rinsed

1 beef stock cube

Method:

Heat olive oil in a large pan and fry the onions for 5 minutes until soft and translucent. Add the garlic, chilli, cumin and oregano and cook for a further minute.

Add the mince to the pan, stir well until browned.

Tip the contents of the pan into your slowcooker and stir in the chopped tomatoes, peppers, sun-dried tomatoes and beans. Crumble in the stock cube, season well.

Cover and cook on low for 8 -10 hours or on high for 4- 5 hours.

I often make a double batch of this, i serve the first batch with rice, freeze the second batch and then serve it the following week with wraps, shredded iceberg, grated cheese, sour cream and guacamole to make delicious burrito-style wraps.

Enjoy,

I was delighted to uncover Talika photo hydra day cream in this months Glossy box. Talika Photo Hydra Day Review

Talika Photo-Hydra Day Cream is a deeply hydrating moisturiser which smoothes and re-plumps the skin. It contains Lipopeptides that soothe the skin; Hyaluronic acid, a powerful humectant that plumps and hydrates. Photo-Hydra Day Cream is also enriched with Mango Butter which nourishes and prevents dehydration.

This cream is suitable for all skin types. It has a serum-like texture which absorbs immediately into the skin. It feels light on the skin but yet skin feels really nourished and it’s gelish consistency lends to a soothing feeling.

I have noticed a positive improvement in my skin from using this, my skin looks and feels smoother and less congested. The downside of this product is that it doesn’t contain an SPF. I also found that for best results use this product over a serum. I found when i used it on its own that it didn’t make a great base for make-up, but when layered over serum it worked as a great make-up base.

Overall, i give this cream a 7/10. I think ladies in their 20’s & 30’s with oily, combo and sensitive skin will do well with this product but, if your skin is more mature or indeed quite dry then i would recommend something more nourishing or oil based.

Kidnapping……every parents worst nightmare. The Girl in the Red Coat by Kate Hamer is a gripping emotional roller coaster of a tale. Having children myself, this story probably hit a nerve more with me than if i had read it before i had children. Continue reading →
